Born in 1967 and educated at Magdalen College, Oxford, Tim Butcher has covered many major conflicts in recent years including the wars in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq, Algeria, Sierra Leone and Lebanon.
Tim has worked for the Daily Telegraph since 1990 as foreign affairs leader writer, defence correspondent and Africa Bureau Chief. He is currently based in Jerusalem where he is the Telegraph's Middle East correspondent.
